Group project

Conduct a User Centered Research

Visualize a service

Forestry is a huge industry in Sweden but still a bit archaic especially in the way stakeholders communicate with each others. That is what we discovered after 2 weeks of research during this service design project.

In groups of 4 students we had to imagine:

"A service that would help the forest industry in Sweden for the future but also keep a proper ecosystem

FORESTRY MAP

RESEARCH

According to the stakeholder, the areas to develop are:

TRANSPORTATION

COMMUNICATION

BIODIVERSITY

KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL

FIELD VISIT

INTERVIEWS

CO-CREATIVE SESSIONS

What kind of service could help spread knowledge about forest?

MAPS = tools that differ for every stakeholders

ONE MAP = TOOL WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE

CONCEPT

Through the map they can plan, communicate, share... and oviously this tool is opened to a lot of improvement year after year.

The interactive map is gathering a lot of information. The amount of data accessible depends on the users' postion in the forestry.

To ensure an easy access, the interactive map is also accessible from the phone, with the possibility to use GPS and thus increase the amount of functions.

Service Design is a lot about the user and this is what I like in design. During this project it has been mostly research to first understand an industry we were totally unfamiliar with and secondly to know what could be created, improved. It is also hard to make people who have no link with design help you innovate but the different methods learned during co-creative sessions have been really helpful. The user centered aspect of service design can and should definitely be applied to any kind of design.
